Many resources exist for the purpose of medical assistance. Applications and further information regarding most of these may be obtained by calling your local Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Related criteria for eligibility should be discussed with your physician.

MEDICARE
Medicare is the health insurance program of the federal government. It is provided through Social Security or Railroad Retirement for people 65 and older and some people under 65 who are disabled for two (2) years.

MEDICAID
Medicaid is the federally-sponsored program administered by the state. It is available for certain individuals who meet the financial eligibility criteria for their living situation and their physical and medical condition. Individuals who are aged, disabled, or blind and Medicare beneficiaries whose income is below the federal poverty level are potentially eligible.

CANCER STATE AID SERVICES
Cancer State Aid Services offers funds for diagnostic and treatment services for medically indigent cancer patients, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, home health care, nutrition supplements, oxygen and equipment rental, as well as access to physicians who volunteer to provide their services without charge.  Application should be made at your local county Department of Family and Children Services or the local county Health Department or Social Services Department of one of the participating facilities. GEORGIA PARTNERSHIP FOR CARING FOUNDATION, INC. (GPCF)
GPCF offers a free, non-emergency health care program for Georgia citizens who are not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or any other type of government medical program or private insurance, and who have an income at or below 100% of the federal poverty level. This program includes limited voluntary services of physicians, hospitals, pharmacists and pharmaceutical manufacturers, dentists, home health nurses, mental health centers, and hospice organizations. For more information, call 1-800-982-GPCF (4723) or pick up an application from the county DFACS office, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
