Office Support Services

back to Patient Resources

Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. provides many resources for its patients and families, ranging from support services to financial counseling to assistance with outpatient test scheduling and pre-certification, as well as a formalized quality management program.

Our director of Support Services, Debbie Church, assists in the care of our patients and families. She is available for individual and family counseling at no cost. New patients are encouraged to contact the counselor to learn of the many avenues of support available. Support groups are available for patients and families, which are coordinated with the oncology programs of the local hospitals.

Our director makes referrals to the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Society, and other helpful agencies in the community, depending on a patient or family’s specific needs.

A well-stocked library of books, audiotapes and videotapes are available for use by NGOC patients and families. Our director will assist in obtaining appropriate materials related to each situation. Additionally, a large variety of booklets and pamphlets are available in each office for information and support.

With constant advances in medicine, people are living longer and facing tougher health care decisions. Today, people can use written documents to direct their medical treatment in the event that they become incapable of communicating their wishes. These documents are called "Advance Directives" and are available through your physician or the director of Support Services. The director is available to assist patients and families with Advance Directives. The director of Support Services may be reached by calling any NGOC office; ask for Debbie Church.

CLINICAL AND OFFICE STAFF
Oncology-trained clinical staff are available to provide high-quality care to patients who come to see their physicians or who come to the office to receive treatment. Oncology-trained registered nurses teach patients about treatments, ways to minimize side effects, and when to call the doctor with problems. Office staff are available to assist in scheduling return appointments, scheduling outpatient testing, and assist in getting answers to billing questions.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT
The Quality Management director is available when patients or families have feedback for the practice that will assist in improving the care provided to patients. Any concerns or complaints may be directed to the Quality Management director. The Quality Management director may be reached by calling any NGOC office; ask for Lisa Allen.
