Patient Education
We attempt to educate and inform our patients as fully as possible regarding their illness and treatment options. We maintain a patient library, brochures, and many video tapes. In addition, we have compiled a list of credible resources available on the internet. The following guides are updated periodically to provide our patients access to local and national treatment and support resources. Please ask your physician or nurse for additional information.

Social Support Services Department

Our Social Services Department assists patients with connection to support services available for cancer care. These resources include assistance with pharmaceutical and financial aid, transportation help, hospice information resources, and information concerning cancer support groups organized with NGOC as well as groups within the local community. We provide resource materials that include local, state, and federal government organizations as well as non-profit and community organizations.

We help patients with guidance concerning financial assistance programs for all NGOC locations. Assistance programs would include:

  • Pharmaceutical patient assistance programs
  • Cancer State Aid
  • Medicaid
  • Medicare
  • Social Security Disability Insurance

Social Support also visits patients in the hospital per physician's request. We send sympathy cards to patients' families. Cancer support groups are organized with NGOC. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon (lunch is provided) and is located at the Presbyterian Village Center in Austell, Georgia. We sponsor educational wellness seminar programs. Bereavement and grief support is available, offering individual sessions at no charge with our director of Support Services, Debbie Church.
