Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. (NGOC) honors the distinguished medical career of Robert C. Hermann, MD, FACP by bestowing the status of Physician Emeritus. As co-founder of NGOC in 1995 through his retirement from practice in June 2016, Dr. Hermann served hundreds of patients and their loved ones with compassion and expertise and was the guiding force behind NGOC’s William S. Gibbons Cancer Research Institute, a leading community-based cancer research center garnering a high participation rate in advanced, investigative cancer treatments.
His dedication to finding a cure through cancer research has provided qualified patients with the opportunity to receive the most advanced, cutting-edge clinical trials available to NGOC patients close to home. Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. (NGOC) was founded in 1995 with five other local medical oncologists. Dr. Hermann specialized in treating lymphoma, gastrointestinal cancer, lung cancer, and breast cancer. He began his oncology practice at WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in 1984 after completing a Fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Hermann served as Oncology Medical Director for WellStar Health System and provided leadership to various WellStar Kennestone Hospital committees and national organizations promoting quality and safety in cancer care including the Community Oncology Alliance.
